Mid-Continent owns the original bachelor ' s lodge, <br /> which has been run as a small hotel for a number of years . <br /> The company intends to preserve its historic character , and <br /> to continue its use as a hotel . <br /> In addition, Redstone Corp . , the real-estate <br /> subsidiary of Mid-Continent Resources , is contemplating <br /> construction of apartment and townhouse units in Redstone to <br /> serve, during the mining years , as employee housing . After <br /> mining , the units will be used for lodging the recreational <br /> users. <br /> Recreational facilities , including swimming pool <br /> and tennis courts , picnic area and riding stables , are <br /> available or are being planned for use by lodge guests , and <br /> will be available for the post-mining apartment/townhouse <br /> guests as well. <br /> E . Wildlife Habitat <br /> Coal Basin is not a generally hospitable environment <br /> for wildlife during the winter months , as it is too high for <br /> adequate winter range, and use is severely limited . Conse- <br /> quently, winter recreational use is not expected to disturb <br /> the wildlife use of the Basin. <br /> Some elk calving areas are within the Basin, generally <br /> on south-facing slopes . Elk calve during the months of May <br /> and June, and occasionally during July. However , no use of <br /> the ski runs is expected during that time. Further , the ski <br /> runs are planned for north-facing slopes , and so should not <br /> -34- <br />
