Based on the location and type of action being proposed, CPW
believes impacts to the wildlife resource to be negligible. This project is basically no
change from the existing conditions with the exception of the amount of traffic that will
be on the property on a daily basis.
Minimal impacts will occur on a couple species. The deer that utilize the area regularly
should adapt to the volume of traffic and will likely just disperse to adjoining areas of the
hayfields in that vicinity. Prairie dog burrows will be disturbed on the parcel that is
immediately being mined, but we anticipate re- establishment of the prairie dogs on the
reclaimed areas in fairly short order.
Thank you for providing this opportunity to comment. Please feel free to contact our
local CPW office at 719 -530 -5520 should you have any further needs or questions.
Sincerely,
ames L.
