Site Reclamation Activity <br />April 2000 - March 2001 <br />Page 3 <br />3) maintenance and operation of the water treatment system <br />including the Cement Creek diversion in compliance with the <br />CDPS Permit and related Consent Decree. It is planned to <br />complete closure of the American Tunnel and suspend diversion <br />and treatment of Cement Creek in 2001. The capability of <br />diverting and treating Cement Creek will be maintained. Flows <br />from the lower American Tunnel will be treated but upon <br />completion of the planned American Tunnel bulkhead No.3, flows <br />should no longer exist and treatment will not be necessary. <br />4) monitoring and maintenance of revegetated areas. <br />5) placement of additional American Tunnel bulkheads. <br />TERRY TUNNEL AREA - Plate No. 2 <br />During the 2000 reporting year, no additional acreage was <br />disturbed. The 4.30 disturbed acres within the permit area were <br />reclaimed after completion of the near surface Terry Tunnel <br />bulkhead (TR -22). <br />Activity at this site consisted of; <br />1) site clean -up. <br />2) inspection of the tunnel bulkhead and monitoring for portal <br />flow according to the terms of the Consent Decree, CDPS <br />discharge permit and MLR Permit M -77 -378, TR -14. Flows were <br />pumped into the mine pool through the bulkhead to maintain a <br />no discharge status. <br />3) placement of a near surface bulkhead to eliminate flows from <br />the adit and allow site reclamation. <br />4) surface disturbance reclamation. The settling ponds were <br />removed, and the site was graded and planted with the Alpine <br />Mix (attached in Appendix A) specified for this area in the <br />reclamation plan. <br />Activities planned for 2001 are; <br />1) inspection, monitoring and implementation of any corrective <br />work necessary to effect final reclamation. <br />
