Site Reclamation Activity <br />April 2000 - March 2001 <br />Page 7 <br />4) placement of a second bulkhead in the Terry Tunnel (TR -22 and <br />TR -23). This was completed during the report year. <br />5) establishment of physical mine pool equilibrium. DMG concurred <br />that physical equilibrium of the mine pool occurred on <br />November 1, 1999. <br />6) submittal of plans for additional American Tunnel bulkheads <br />to effect final closure of the Sunnyside Mine. TR -25 was <br />submitted and approved during the report year for placement <br />of two additional bulkheads in the American Tunnel. <br />Planned activity for 2001 includes; <br />1) construction of the two additional bulkheads in the American <br />Tunnel approved in TR -25. <br />2) monitoring and maintenance for the completed Consent Decree <br />Mine Remediation Projects. <br />3) continuation of the seep, spring and flowing adit inventory <br />and monitoring. <br />MAYFLOWER MILL AREA - Plate No. 3 <br />Ownership of this site was transferred to the San Juan County <br />Historical Society for conversion into a historical and <br />interpretive tour. This conversion was approved in AM -004 and took <br />place in May of 1996. The Historical Society has operated the tour <br />since 1996. In SR -02 the main mill building area was removed from <br />the permit area and Sunnyside was released from further reclamation <br />responsibility for the building area. <br />During 1998, a work plan was submitted to CDPHE for inclusion of <br />three water diversion projects as B List projects under the Consent <br />Decree. One of these projects included the construction of an <br />improved upland stormwater diversion system in the Mayflower Mill <br />area. The portion of this project within the MLR permit area was <br />also included in Sunnyside's TR -21 submittal. This work was <br />completed in 1999. <br />Activity at this site for the 2000 reporting year consisted of; <br />1) monitoring and maintenance of the vegetation and water <br />diversions. <br />
