SITE RECLAMATION ACTIVITY <br /> APRIL 1993 TO MARCH 1994 <br /> Reclamation activity during the 1993 reporting year (April 1993 to <br /> March 1994) consisted of site cleaning, recontouring, rock armoring <br /> drainage paths, planting of recontoured areas, amendment and <br /> fertilization of previously planted areas , cleanup of historic <br /> tailings, water diversion improvements and the beginning of <br /> implementation of the mine drainage seal program. Table A (page 2) <br /> summarizes acreage disturbed and reclaimed by area during the 1993 <br /> reporting year . <br /> In the following sections of this report, environmental activity <br /> during the 1993 reporting year and planned environmental activity <br /> for the 1994 reporting year is discussed on a site by site basis. <br /> AMERICAN TUNNEL PORTAL AREA - Plate No. 1 <br /> During the 1993 reporting year , no additional acreage was <br /> disturbed . Mining activity has been suspended since July of 1991 <br /> although this site is the base of operation for all maintenance and <br /> reclamation activities for the Sunnyside Mine properties. <br /> Reclamation and environmental work at this site consisted of : <br /> 1) general site cleanup. Trash material ( ie wood , paper etc . ) <br /> was disposed of via the local landfill operator and metal <br /> material was disposed of through a steel recycler . <br /> 2) amendment and fertilization of the old Lead Carbonate Tailings <br /> Pond area that was previously planted . <br /> Amendment consisted of addition of 2000 lb/acre limestone to <br /> provide a portion of the required neutralization potential for <br /> long-term reclamation. <br /> Fertilization consisted of treatment with liquid fertilizer <br /> (7. 17N 5. 38P 8 . 96K) . <br /> Growth at this site is good. <br /> 3) seeding , fertilization and mulching of the borrow areas to <br /> increase growth. The fertilizer used was liquid (7 . 17N 5 . 38P <br /> 8 . 96K) and the seed mix was the Mountain Mix attached in the <br /> Appendix at a rate of 22 lb/acre. Mulch for seed covering was <br /> hay applied at 2000 lbs/acre. <br />
