September 1998 Monthly/3=d Quarter Report
Page 2
Attached to this report are progress pictures for comparison to
the pre-project pictures submitted with the June 1996 report.
While these photos do not do justice to the vegetation
established at the sites, it is visible in the pictures and
will improve as it becomes more established at these high
altitude sites.
Sunnyside Mine Pool Mitigation - Alkaline Solution Injection
This project was not active in September or the 3rd
quarter, 1998. The water pool pH, at the American Tunnel
bulkhead, on September 25, 1998, was 3 . 02 and the bulkhead
pressure was 360 psi.
Sunnyside will continue to monitor these parameters.
"B List" Projects
Columbus Mine Portals -Mine Waste Dumps
- London Mine Portals - Waste Dumps
Work, permitting or arrangement for access is not planned
until it becomes evident that the work plans for these
projects require implementation.
- Sunnyside has taken steps towards implementation (i.e.
permitting, access agreements, etc. ) of the work plans to
the three projects submitted for addition to the current
list of "B List" projects in the Consent Decree although
the plans have not been formally added to the Consent
Decree as of the date of this report.
Cement Creek Diversion and Water Treatment
Cement Creek diversion and water treatment was active
continuously throughout September. The flow of Cement
Creek in September was below the treatment system's
capacity and the entire flow was diverted for treatment.
The flow diverted and treated in September ranged from 480
G.P.M. to 805 G.P.M.
