January Monthly Report
Page 3
The January 1999 monitoring results for; dissolved metals
in the AT-004 discharge; Cement Creek diverted for
treatment (CC-1B) ; American Tunnel flow before treatment
(AT-INFEL) ; and Cement Creek below the AT-004 discharge
point (CC-20) are attached to this report.
Mainstem Stream Monitoring and Reference Point Stream
Monitoring
Sunnyside sampled the reference point (A-72) on January 6,
19991 and the Bureau of Reclamation sampled the mainstem
gaging stations (A68, M341 and C48) . The results from
Sunnyside's A-72 sample are attached.
The provisional flow on January 6, 1999 at A-72 was <100
cfs which places this sample result in the low flow
category (Q<100 cfs) . Ice in the channel had built to the
point that gage readings were inaccurate. The dissolved
zinc value for this sample obtained by averaging the
results from two labs was 725 ug/l.
The index number for the January sample is calculated as
follows:
Xi= 725
Xc= 519
Sf= 124
Ni= (Xi - Xf) /Sf
Ni= (725 - 519) /124
Ni= +1. 66
The index number graph and updated reporting table are
attached.
Evaluation of the normalized data:
The index value of +1. 66 for January, 1999 indicates that the
dissolved zinc concentration at the reference point A-72 was
significantly higher than the mean value of the data for the
