April 1999 Monthly Report
Page 2
• Sunnyside Mine Pool Mitigation—Alkaline Solution Injection
This project was not active in April of 1999. The water pool pH, at the American Tunnel
bulkhead, was 4.43 and the bulkhead pressure was 372 psi at the end of April, a change
of+1 psi since the end of March.
Sunnyside will continue to monitor these parameters to determine if the pool is
approaching physical equilibrium.
"B List" Projects
• Columbus Mine Portals—Mine Waste Dumps
• London Mine Portals—Waste Dumps
Work, permitting or arrangement for access is not planned until it becomes evident that
the work plans for these projects require implementation.
• Mayflower Facility— Upland Hydrological Control
• Tailings Pond No. 4 Surface Drainage Modification
• Tailings Pond No. 4 Upland Groundwater Diversion
There was no activity on these projects during April 1999 due to snow cover. It is
planned to resume work on these projects in the spring of 1999.
Cement Creek Diversion and Water Treatment
Cement Creek diversion and water treatment was active continuously throughout April
1999. The flow of Cement Creek was below the treatment system's capacity and the
entire flow (500 G.P.M. to 889 G.P.M.)was diverted for treatment.
The April 1999 monitoring results for; dissolved metals in the AT-004 discharge; Cement
Creek diverted for treatment (CC-1B); American Tunnel flow before treatment (AT-
INFEL); and Cement Creek below the AT-004 discharge point (cc-20) are attached to
this report.
