INTRODUCTION
Sunnyside Gold Corporation (SGC) proposes to
extract gravel from waste rock piles or talus in the
Sunnyside Basin for use as road rock in the Terry
Tunnel . A considerable volume of loose waste rock from
previous mining operations and the Lake Emma diversion
channel exists in the Sunnyside Basin, and is suitable
for road base. The Sunnyside Basin is an alpine cirque
located in a suspended survey area of San Juan County,
Colorado. (Latitude approximately between 37 53158"
and 37 54 ' 18" , Longitude approximately between 107
37 '00" and 107 3614511 .)
By means of a portable screening plant , oversized
and fine material will be separated from the roughly
3/4" to 2" fraction for use as road surfacing material .
This material will be placed from the Terry Tunnel 7
Portal into the tunnel to approximately the F Level
shop . The work is being undertaken to convert from 1, fi
rail to rubber tire access to the Sunnyside Mine via
the Terry Tunnel . 2
Gravel screening operations and access from County v
Road 25 will take place exclusively on disturbed rock
dump areas and talus slopes. These areas currently do
not support a vegetative growth , and no topsoil exists:
therefore, none will be removed prior to operations.
-1-
