RECLAMATION TIME FRAME
Sunnyside Gold is currently conducting mining feasibility studies
and an exploration program in Sunnyside Basin. Mining activity
for the summer of 1989 is now being planned and is anticipated
for the summer of 1990. Sunnyside Gold anticipates reclamation
of Lake Emma to begin in 1992 . However , we would like this date
to be flexible depending on the results of the exploration
program.
It is the opinion of Sunnyside Gold that the environmental impact
of mining activity in the Basin will be minimized by the presence
of the lake hole since it provides space for waste disposal .
Because of this , we feel that permanent waste disposal and
reclamation of Lake Emma should follow completion of mining in
the Basin. In addition to this , one of the ore bodies being
studied for possible mininq is the pillar directly adjacent to
and east of the lake hole. Reclamation of the lake will make
mining of this pillar impossible.
As calculated , there is currently a 53 , 000 cubic yard deficit in
material available to reclaim Lake Emma. Sunnyside Gold believes
that this material will be produced through future mining
activity. If the exploration program does not prove any new ore,
reclamation of Lake Emma will begin no later than the summer of
1992 , and any shortage of material will be made up of ma :r;rial
excavated from borrow areas . Until this time, Sunnyside Gold
- 13 -
