December Monthly/4"' Quarter 1999 Report
Page 3
In December, the lined interception/diversion ditch was extended along the northeast end
of Tailings Pond No.4 as outlined in the December 21, 1999 progress report submitted
by Sunnyside. Progress pictures for this project are attached.
Cement Creek Diversion and Water Treatment
Cement Creek diversion and water treatment was active throughout the month of
December with the entire flow being diverted for treatment with the lower American
Tunnel flow.
The November and December, 1999 monitoring results for; dissolved metals in the AT-
004 discharge; Cement Creek (CC-113); American Tunnel flow before treatment (AT-
INFEL); and Cement Creek below the AT-004 discharge point (CC-20) are attached.
Mainstem Stream Monitoring and Reference Point Stream Monitoring
Sunnyside sampled the reference point (A-72) and the other three gaging stations (A-68,
C-48 and M-34) on December 1, 1999. The results from these samples are attached.
The provisional flow at A-72 on December 1, 1999 was 179 cfs, which places this sample
result in the intermediate flow category (100<Q<300cfs). The dissolved zinc value for
this sample, obtained by averaging the results from two labs, was 519 ug/l.
The index number for the December sample is calculated as follows:
Xi = 519
Xf= 399
Sf= 144
Ni = (Xi—Xf) /Sf
Ni = (519 — 399)/144
Ni = +0.83
The index number graph and updated reporting table are attached.
