MAYFLOWFR MILL AREA: (Cont. )
(6) Mill Tailings Pond #4 Wells , Figures 3 and 4.
Wells on section-line 22+00 were monitored through the year .
It has been determined that there has been some confusion
properly identifying wells 13A86 and 1386 on this line in
past years . It was erroneously reported in the 1989 MLR
report that the water level in well 13A86 had dropped 25 ',
feet due to reconstruction of the pond berm in the summer of
1989 . This drop does not appear to have occurred.
Wells 13A86 and 1386 are located within 10 feet of each
other at approximately the same elevation on Section Line
22+00 . 13A86 is the western, more shallow well with an
average water level depth of 9402 feet above sea level .
1386 is the eastern, deeper well with an average water level
death of 9376 . A summary of relevant data is given below
showing a remarkably consistent range of water levels
despite changes in pond deposition method in May 1989 and
steadily increasing pond water elevation over the years.
Date Pond 1386113AB6 126 1386 1306 13A86
Rater Ben Dater Well He Dater Dell Btâ–
Elev. Figure 4
represents a section along line 22+00 . The label "perf
pine" on the section near oond level refers to the
perforated pipe attached to the drainage net underlying the
beach. The wells will continue to be monitored in 1991 .
(7) Mill Tailings Pond #4 North Bank Seeps
A number of intermittent seeps from the hillside directly to
the North West of Tailinqs Pond #4 are contributing acid
water to the area. Preliminary investigation shows flows up
to 100 GPM and nH values ranging from 2 . 5 to 6. 5 units. The
cause of the acidity appears to be the highly fractured
pyritic volcanic porphyry unit outcropping at the base of
the hillside. No acid producing disturbances have been
identified above . More sampling for base line data is
planned in 1991 .
- 9 -
