treatment capacity for the nigh flows experienced in the spring.
Settling Pond #2 was excavated completely after cleaning and the
bottom and sides were sealed with a relatively impermeable
material .
The portable lime feed system was active from the last of May to
the first of October .
Activities planned for 1991 are:
(1) Maintain and operate the lime feed system during the period
of May to October.
(2) To do any site cleanup required .
Sunnvside Basin (Lake Emma) Area - Plate No. 2
The waste rock stockpiles were treated with ProMac during July
and October as committed to for mitigation of acid production
from the temporary waste stockpiles. The samples taken in the
fall for testing were lost in transit or at the lab so we don ' t
have specific data to show that the treatment process is still
working although samples from the treated Test Plot area shows
that it is (report attached) . The area will be sampled and
tested this summer when the area is accessible .
The Lake Emma test plot area was evaluated by Tom Colbert of IMS
Inc. . Tom originally constructed the test plots in 1988 and has
evaluated the results annually (report attached along with a copy
of a presentation given by Tory Colbert on the area and a BF
Goodrich analysis of samples taken from the site) .
The hole into the open stope in the Sunnyside Pit was covered
with a reinforced concrete slab. The slab is substantial enough
to allow 10 feet of cover plus a 50, 000 lb surcharge.
Toe Sunnyside portal was permanently closed though backfilling as
committed to in TR-07 .
The No Name portal was permanently closed through backfilling and
the road cut to the No Name portal was reduced with a track hoe
as committed to in the reclamation plan for the area (TR-07) .
Planned activity for 1991 is :
(1 ) Treat the waste rock stockpiles in June and October with
ProMac for ongoing maintenance of the temporary waste
stockpiles .
(2) Do the preliminary construction work (ie haul roads ,
drainage structures and underground prep work) for filling
the Lake Emma hole in 1992.
(3) Monitor the subsidence points , revegetation test plots and
any subsidence in the diversion trench subsidence fill .
- 3 -
