Tony Tennyson and Chip Brown of
Colowyo also participated in the inspection. The ground was entirely free of snow. The weather was warm and
windy; no precipitation was experienced.
Activities on site during the one -day inspection included:
• The 102 dragline was undergoing maintenance at the West Pit Spoil Pile (aka Henks Peak), but the height
of the peak has been greatly reduced in recent weeks (since April inspection).
• In the West Pit, the 103 dragline was casting spoil.
• In the East Pit, the 101 dragline was idle.
• In South Taylor Pit, the 115 excavator and 114 shovel were loading trucks.
• Trucks were dumping material at elevation 7850' in the South Taylor Fill.
BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14:
West Taylor Fill was observed from the road below, and no problems were observed. The process of laying rock
in the side drains is complete or nearly complete. These rocks vary widely in size, from smaller than a human
hand to larger than a small car.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05:
The following ponds were inspected: Prospect, West Taylor, East Taylor, and ponds in the East Pit area (PD -1,
NTEP -1). West Taylor, East Taylor, and Prospect were discharging (only small trickle out of Prospect — the flume
was dry). The discharge water was clear for these three ponds. No problems were identified with dams or other
structural aspects of the ponds.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 9
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 2 of 12
