VIII. RESULTS
Limited - Results Archaeological Survey Form (Page 6 of 7)
30. List IFs if applicable. Indicate IF locations on the map completed for Part III.
A. Smithsonian Number: Description:
31. Using your professional knowledge of the region, why are there none or very limited
cultural remains in the project area? Is there subsurface potential? The drill sites inventory
areas are small in size and in two locations the surface area is totally disturbed. There are many
more desirable areas nearby (on ridge tops and adjacent to larger drainages) that would lend
themselves for usage by prehistoric and historic peoples. The Twentymile Park region has been
utilized in the past by prehistoric and historic peoples, but in a limited fashion near the current
protect. There are areas of soil deposition within the project, as evidenced in eroded areas and
road cuts, but if significant cultural material existed below the ground surface evidence of such
would have likely been apparent in the disturbed areas.
References Cited
Tweto, Ogden
1979 Geologic Map of Colorado.
