Limited - Results Archaeological Survey Form (Page 5 of 7)
V. LITERATURE REVIEW (cont)
In the general region (summarize): There are 19 recorded cultural resource sites and isolated finds
within the seven sections for this project. All but one (5RT2745) has been evaluated as not eligible
and no further work is recommended. 5RT2745 is recommended as "needs data," but the site is
located over a half mile from any of the core hole locations. The 1915 GLO shows several historic
features (cabin, road, irrigation ditch, reservoir or fence line) within the seven sections but none fall
within the survey boundaries for the seven drill sites.
26. Expected Results: Although there are previously recorded sites and isolated finds in the
surrounding areas, expectations were low for this project. This was due to the fact that the
inventoried areas are extremely small and two of the locations have been previously
disturbed via CPR reclamation and power line construction.
VI. STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES
27. Identify, record, and assess any cultural resources located within the potential area of effect.
VII. FIELD METHODS
28. Definitions: Site The locus of previous (50 year age minimum) human activity at which the
preponderance of evidence suggests either one -time diagnostically interpretable use or
repeated use over time, or multiple classes of activities.
IF One or more culturally modified objects not found within the context of a site as defined
above. These objects lack evidence of or potential for additional cultural materials or features in
the immediate vicinity.
29. Describe Survey Method: Five drill sites (CCU75, 77, 81, 83, 84 and 86) were found via
GPS data, while CCU31 was staked with a piece of metal rebar. For the remaining drill site
locales, a pin flag was placed at the center point and a 150 -ft radius around the center point was
surveyed in spiral transects spaced no more than 50ft (15m) apart. A total of 11.2 acres was
surveyed for the project.
