ELU #3
Geomorphology : This unit is on mountain side-
slopes . Slopes are generally in the 16-40% range
with some areas being steeper . Erosion hazards
and mass movement potentials are moderate . Soils
are forming from basalt , sandstone, and shales .
This unit is the source of high quality water with
little potential for increased yields through
vegetative manipulation . First , second and third
order streams occur in this unit .
Vegetation: This unit has mountain meadows ,
shrubs and rock outcrops . Production potential
varies , but is generally high . Revegetation
potential is moderate .
ELU #4
Geomorphology : Steep slopes , usually 35% or
steeper . The soil has a high erosion hazard .
Some of the soils are forming on Marcos Shale and
have a high mass movement potential . The streams
run from high elevation, steep gradient streams ,
to depositional streams through steep mountain
sideslopes at the lower elevations . The potential
to increase water yield through vegetation manipula-
tion is low.
Vegetation: Mountain meadows , shrubs and rock
outcrops . Production potential varies , but it is
generally high . Revegetation potential is moderate .
ELU #8
Geomorphology: Mountain sideslopes , some deposi-
tional areas . Erosion hazard and mass movement
potential are variable but predominately high .
Several perennial streams in this unit and these
could be damaged by man ' s activities . Geology is
varied , but the dominant rock types are sandstone ,
siltstone, shale and basalt .
Vegetation: Grass , shrubs and rock comprise the
primary ground cover in this unit . The unit is
highly variable in vegetation and production
potentials .
-6-
