The Division received Peabody Sage Creek Mining's (SCC) application for a technical revision
(TR -04) on April 25, 2012. The application was determined to be complete on April 30, 2012.
As of the date of this letter, no concerns have been received from other agencies regarding this
proposed technical revision. The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has
completed its adequacy review of the proposed technical revision. Please respond to the
following comments or concerns as necessary:
1. A "Note to Reviewer" text page is currently at the beginning of each section of the
currently approved permit. This note identifies the number of disturbed acres associated
with the Peabody Sage Creek Mine permit. Based on the proposed TR4 application, this
number has changed. Please revise this page to delineate the correct number of
proposed acres.
2. Approved page 2.04 -4 identifies 391 acres as the surface disturbance associated with the
PSCM portal facilities, stockpile areas, access roads, and haul roads. Proposed page
2.04 -4 identifies 355.8 acres which includes the proposed acreage associated with TR4.
Please discuss the discrepancy in acreage and ensure that the correct number of
acres is identified.
3. TR4 proposed page 2.05 -3 identifies 276 acres of disturbance. Please revise this page to
identify the correct number of acres proposed in TR4.
4. TR4 proposed page 2.05 -11, paragraph one, states that the performance bond associated
with the existing mine facilities in the north end are currently bonded under the former
Seneca II Mine. These facilities are now bonded under the self bond associated with the
PSCM. Please revise text as necessary.
