1
. . . . . . . . . MID-CONTINENT RESOURCES, INC.
818 Colorado Ave.
P.O. Box 1298
Glenwood Springs, CO 81601
October 17 , 1991
Dan Mathews
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman
Room 215
Denver, CO 80209
RE: Technical Revision 18. Secondary spillways.
Dear Mr. Mathews:
This letter will confirm my verbal discussion with Larry Routten
concerning the design specifications proposed by the Division as to
rip-rap sizing for the spillways, and re. the appropriate spillway
design for the load-out pond.
The Division suggested that the load-out pond be removed from
consideration in this revision and dealt with separately, so as to
resolve questions relating to the spillway design for this
particular pond without delay of work on other ponds within the
revision. we agree that this is a good idea, and request deletion
of the load-out pond from this technical revision request.
The Division had previously asked that Mid-Continent specify a plan
for rip rap placement and sizing. Mid-Continent proposed that:
It Rip rap material shall be of free-draining, durable rock,
varying in size, with the average, D5O = 8 inches. Mid-
Continent proposes to place a layer of smaller, gravel to
cobble size rock beneath the larger rock material . "
TR-18
51 10/91
