Drainage areas for the Phase I , 1987, pile expansion
have been shown on Map 1 of 2. In order to construct this
pile from the existing belt drop point, refuse will be
pushed northward to the new temporary diversion ditch. The
elevation of the temporary diversion ditch is considerably
higher than that of the belt drop point. because a dozer
can only push material economically up a 5% slope, the
entire area of Phase I , 1987, cannot be used. In order for
us to reach the final pile configuration shown on Map 2 of
2, we will need to extend our conveyor belt line northward
up the ridge. This extension will be requested when we
permit the Phase II , 1989, area. Therefore, only 9. 2 acres
of Phase I , 1987, can be utilized without extending the
conveyor belt.
I hope this answers all of your questions about this
Technical Revision. I apologize for the long delay in
getting this information to you. I am sure you realize how
hectic the wort: schedule becomes here during the spring
runoff season. If you have any questions please contact me
here at the mine site.
Sincerely,
Scott Jones, P.E.
Environmental Engineer
cc: Doug Bowman
98
