<br /> filed, with the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation -
<br /> Division,an application for a permit renewal for the
<br /> period May 31,1988 to May 31,1993 to conduct coal
<br /> mining under provisions of the Colorado Surface Cool
<br /> Mining Reclamation Act of 1979.The legal description
<br /> of the proposed mining operation Is as follows:Section
<br /> 31 and 32,T9S,R89W;Sections 4.11,14-21,28.30,T70S,
<br /> R89W;Section 36,T9S,R90W;Sections 1.2,11-14,23.
<br /> 25, T10S, R90W; all in the 6th P.M. in Pitkin and
<br /> Gunnison Counties, Colorado. The surface of the
<br /> proposed mining permit area is owned by Mid-
<br /> Continent Resources,Inc,and the United States(U.S.
<br /> Forest Service).The mine complex is located in Coal
<br /> Basin approximately five miles west of Redstone,
<br /> i Colorado The proposed post-mining use of the af.
<br /> i fected land is Forest Service multiple use to include
<br /> wildlife habitat,grazing and recreation.U.S.G.S.7.5
<br /> minutes quadrangle mops of Piacita and Elk Knob
<br /> contain the described area of the proposed operation.
<br /> The legal description of the proposed coal load out
<br /> facility,which is a part of this permit application,is as
<br /> follows: The South East quarter of Section 35, P7S,
<br /> R88W,6 P.M.The facility is located in Garfield County
<br /> approx.1 mile east of Carbondale,Co.,and The Post-
<br /> Mining land use is Industrial. U,S.G.S. 7.5 minutes
<br /> Carbondale quadrangle map contains the described
<br /> area of the facility. Copies of the application are
<br /> available for public inspection at the Pitkin County
<br /> Courthouse in Aspen,Colorado,and at the Colorado
<br /> Mined Land Reclamation Division Office,1313Sherman
