<br /> Mid-Continent Resources, Inc . , P .O . Box 500, Carbondale,
<br /> Colorado 81623, phone (303) 963-2581 , has filed, with the
<br /> Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division, an application for a
<br /> permit renewal for the period May 31 , 1988 to May 31 , 1993 to
<br /> conduct coal mining under provisions of the Colorado Surface
<br /> Coal Mining Reclamation Act of 1979 . The legal description of
<br /> the proposed mining operation is as follows: Sections 31 and
<br /> 32, TSS, R89W; Sections 'f-11 , 1lt-21 , 28-30, T105, RB9W; Section
<br /> 36, T9S, R90W; Sections 1-2, 11-1q, 23-25, T10S, R90W; all in
<br /> tide ioGi i .". . : Pit�:in and Gunnison Counties, Colorado . The
<br /> surface of the proposed mining permit area is owned by Mid-
<br /> Continent Resources, Inc . and the United States (U .S . Forest
<br /> Service) . The mine complex is located in Coal Basin
<br /> approximately five miles west of Redstone, Colorado . The
<br /> proposed post-mining use of the affected land is Forest Service
<br /> multliple use to include wildlife habitat, grazing and
<br /> recreation . U .S .G .S . 7 .5 minutes quadrangle maps of Placita and
<br /> Elk Knob contain the described area of the proposed operation .
<br /> The legal description of the proposed coal loadout facility ,
<br /> which is a part of this permit application, is as follows: The
<br /> Southeast Quarter of Section 35, T7S, R86W, 6th P .M . The
<br /> Facility is located in Garfield County approximately one mile
<br /> east of Carbondale, CO, and the post-mining land use is
<br /> Industrial . U .S .G .S . 7 .5 minutes Carbondale quadrangle map
<br /> contains the described location of the facility . Copies of the
<br /> application are available for public inspection at the Pitkin
<br /> County Courthouse in Aspen, Colorado, and at the Colorado Mined
<br /> Land Reclamation Division Office, 1313 Sherman Street, Room q23,
<br /> Denver Colorado . Written comments, objections, or requests for
<br /> an informal conference on the application may be submitted to,
