RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT E (cont)
also be tested and fertilizer added accordingly. If used it will
be a mix of Nitrogen (N , Phosphorus (P and Potassium (K)
based on soil analysis of the seedbed.
SEEDBED PREPARATION
After resoiling, the areas to be drilled will be smoothed of
large clods and worked until moderately fine. In the areas where
broadcasting may be done the surface will be left fairly rough.
A dozer will be used to spread the soils which will leave a
fairly rough bed ready for planting. The dozer track imprints
provide small indentions which help retain moisture and minimize
runoff.
SEEDING TIME
The grass seed mixture will be planted between October 1 and
April 30 (before the first freeze and after the last freeze) of
any given year. The time of planting will be controlled by when
the seedbed areas are ready for planting. If tests indicated
fertilizer is needed it will be tilled into the seedbed prior to
seeding.
GRASSES
The NRCS has recommended a seed mixture that will be used
for the mine. The per acre rate for Pounds -Pure Live Seed ( #PLS)
for this mix is 8.75 PSL. This mix will provide approximately 32
seeds PLS /ft if drilled. No shrubs or trees were added since
the landowners will use the area for grazing cattle when reclama-
tion is complete. We also believe there will be a natural
invasion of brush from undisturbed areas over time and that this
invasion will not necessarily enhance the use for livestock
grazing.
PROPOSED SEED MIX
Species Lbs.
