RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT E (cont)
stripped, mined, partially reclaimed or totally reclaimed. The
MINING PLAN MAP - EXHIBIT C -1 shows how the area will look when approxi-
mately 16.6% of the area has been mined. Note how the final
floor looks on the west side where reclamation is complete. In
this case only the working, stripped areas and Plant Site need
reclamation.
We expect to salvage sufficient topsoil to meet reclamation
requirements. Observations at the site show that soil on the
property has an average salvageable depth of 4 to 6 inches except
in isolated locations where bare rock is exposed. An additional
1 to 6 inches of sandy overburden underlies the soil.
The area will be returned to at least it's present vegeta-
tive condition when reclamation is complete with the exception
that no trees will be planted on the mine. When complete, the
area will have a large level area more conductive to uses associ-
ated with the proposed end use. EXHIBIT UJ - SOILS AND VEGETATION section
indicates that 60% of the area has a grass cover and 30% is
covered with woody plant species. On average the soils on the
site are capable of producing approximately 500 lbs /ac air dried
forage in a normal year. Under normal conditions the operator
will strive for a 5 to 20 percent cover rate on the revegetated
areas when reclamation is complete. Site investigations indicate
the water table will not be reached in this mine.
Existing soils in place have been capable of producing a
good cover of native grasses suitable for grazing purposes when
not abused. When final grading and reshaping is complete, the
area will be resoiled. Under normal weather conditions, an
adequate moisture reserve will be present for establishment of
the proposed seed mixture. No irrigation will be used during
reclamation since the plan is to establish a vegetation cover
that is not dependent on irrigation to survive.
REVEGETATION PROGRAM
The revegetation program to be implemented is detailed
below.
RE VEGETATION INFORMATION
The topsoiling plan presented earlier and the revegetation
program are devised after careful review of the existing soil
conditions and present vegetation, both on site and in the
reports contained in the SOILS AND VEGETATION section.
