MINING PLAN EXHIBIT D (CONT)
floor to reduce the haul distances when reclamation starts. See
the MINING PLAN MAP - EXHIBIT C -1, for the approximate location of areas
discussed in this text.
This mine will be operated year- around, weather permitting,
as a specification aggregate supply for Tamrock Gravel's use and
for sale on the open market. The plan is to crush material and
remove the stockpiles as needed, which means that in some years
the mine may be closed for as many as 120 days due to inclement
weather. There may also be long periods when there are no
activities at the mine due to a reduced market demand for the
material.
The Shot Rock Pit will be a dry mine, except the water used
for dust control during processing and on roads. Dewatering of
the pit will not be needed as no groundwater will be exposed.
The material will be mined using front -end loaders, dozers, track
hoes and haul trucks. Screening, crushing and stockpiling will
occur on site when the mine is in full operation. Production
from the Shot Rock Pit will begin in 2012 and continue for 15 to
20 years, depending on demand for the products in the market
area.
Mining equipment may include but is not limited to, front -
end loaders, scrapers, motor graders, bulldozers, track -hoes,
drills, tractor trailers, tandem -axle end dumps, articulated haul
trucks, and water trucks for dust control. Processing and
supporting equipment to be found on site may include but is not
limited to portable screening plants, generator sets, portable
crushers, and portable conveyors.
MINING PLAN
This mine will produce specification aggregates, crunched
rock, rip -rap, ballast, sand and crusher fines, et al. Most all
of this material will be sold but it is estimated that approxi-
mately 3% of the total rock removed will be crusher fines for
which there is no market. These fines will be spread over the
mine floor during reclamation to make the root zone over the
underlying shale.
The setback around the mine boundary will vary from 15 to
110 feet depending on the slope of the ridge. Our plan is to
day - light -out the sides of the mine, except along the north line
where the hard rock slope will be left nearly vertical and the
6
