Box 210
501 North Park Avenue
Breckenridge, Colorado 80424
Subject: Highway 9
Dear Sheriff Minor,
Again, I am writing of my serious concems about the out of control and dangerous traffic
situation on Highway 9. The specific location I am referring to is just North of
Silverthorne from the new school house and on.
The vehicle and specifically truck traffic is out of control. No one pays attention to the
speed limits and the truck drivers seem to be the worst offenders.
Our home is located at 27612 N HWY 9 and we witness this situation continually. Just in
the last four weeks we have had our rail fence tom out by two separate vehicle
accidents. Two years ago, an accident tore out our fence and killed the driver on the
spot.
When I reported the most recent incident, there appeared to be confusion between the
Sheriff Department, State Patrol, and Silverthome Police on jurisdiction and enforcement
responsibility.
Unfortunately, I am again predicting some serious and deadly situations along that
stretch if something is not done aggressively and soon.
Your prompt attention to this serious matter is appreciated.
CC: Mark Hanschmidt, Silverthorne Chief of Police
Colonel James M.
