PERMIT #: M- 2004 -030
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: MAC
INSPECTION DATE: April 25, 2012
occurring during the mining operation or reclamation. The possible violation will be scheduled for the June13-
14, 2012 Mined Land Reclamation Board Hearing. Notice of such hearing will be sent under separate cover.
Revegetation:
The Division observed diffuse knapweed throughout the site. Diffuse knapweed is commonly found in quarries
throughout this part of Boulder County. Diffuse knapweed occurs on the Colorado State Noxious Weed List B,
which requires the development of a weed control plan designed to stop the further spread of this species.
According to the Operator, the diffuse knapweed is treated by releasing weevils which feed on the roots of the
plant. The Division reviewed the permit file and could not find an approved Weed Control Plan; any site with
noxious weeds present must have an approved Weed Control Plan on file with the Division. This has been
cited as a problem and will require corrective action by the Operator; please see the first page of this report
for additional information.
Financial Warranty:
The Division currently holds a financial warranty in the amount of $20,300.00; the financial warranty was
based on a maximum disturbance of 8 acres. As noted earlier in this report, the total disturbance at this site
was found to be 10.61 acres. Therefore, the Division has reason to believe the financial warranty for this site is
no longer adequate to complete reclamation. Pursuant to Rule 4.2.1(1), all financial warranties shall be set and
maintained at a level which reflects the actual current cost of fulfilling the requirements of the Reclamation
Plan. The Division will recalculate the financial warranty amount for this site; notice of any increase of the
financial warranty amount will be sent under separate cover.
This concluded the inspection.
