RuBERT LELHNEY TEL No .3u3-ya5-2303 Jan . 13 ,93 15 : 13 P .04
An area on the tunnel pile will have to be cleared of snow prior to placement of pond
cleanings. The muck deposited on the tunnel pile will have to be spread out, but this
work should probably be done next summer, when the pond cleanings are dry.
Sutey Ponds
Time est: 2 days.
This assumes a partial clean-out of the Sutey ponds. A total clean-out would entail
cutting the power line and require an estimated five days cleaning time. However, as
cutting the power line might decrease the value of the Mine #5 area, this has not been
suggested.
The pond cleanings are placed on the Sutey refuse pile. Access to the pile will have to
be cleared, and a space on -ihe pile for placement of pond cleanings. Later in the year,
when the muck is dry, it will be spread out.
Warehouse Ponds
Time est: 3 days.
These three ponds are at or near maximum capacity for sediment loading.
The dragline and dozer are squired; trucks are not required. The dragline pulls muck
from the pond, then swings ;around and deposits material; the dozer pushes it away
from the ponds and berms the area.
Later in the spring, pond cleanings and the raw coal now on the ground will be pushed
to the side of the hill and covered.
001 Pond
Est. time = 2 days.
Only the uppermost pond requires cleaning.
There is an area adjacent the pond on which cleanings could be placed. They would
have to be removed later in the year, however, so trucking costs would then be
incurred, as well as loader time. It would be less expensive over long term to truck
refuse away. The material would go to the Sutey pile, which would require clearing the
road to the Sutey area, an access route up the pile (which would be done for the Sutey
pond cleanings as well), and spreading the material later in the summer when it dries.
3
