expenses . These needs are set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto
and are as follows :
a. Excess First Quarter Expenses . Resources under-
estimated its average monthly administrative expenses
for the first quarter. Additionally, unforeseen
expenses for propane and additional contract labor were
incurred in the first quarter.
( 1 ) Average Monthly Budget . In the First Motion,
Resources estimated that its ongoing
administrative expenses for contract labor (which
includes no compensation for any officers or
directors of Resources ) , utilities , insurance,
permits, and other general and administrative
expenses would be $24 , 893 per month for the first
quarter of 1993 . Accordingly, Resources sought
and received cash collateral authorization in the
amount of $75, 000 , to cover these expenses for
three months . For several years , Pitkin Iron has
shared an electric meter with Resources ' and
charged Resources ' its estimated share at $1 , 000
per month. Pitkin Iron closed its facilities .
Since January, Resources ' office has been the only
facility serviced by the electric meter. Actual
charges have been $2 , 500 per month. The
additional amount needed to cover this discrepancy
is $4 , 179 . 93 .
( 2 ) Propane. An usually heavy snow fall made it
necessary to heat unoccupied buildings at the mine
site. These building have flat roofs allowing
snow to accumulate and potentially cause
structural damage and safety hazards . Further,
equipment awaiting liquidation is being stored in
these building and would have been damaged in the
event of structural failure. The cost of propane
for the first quarter was $22 ,284 . 05 .
(3 ) Additional Contract Labor. In addition to
the costs of contract labor allocated under the
average monthly budget, Resources found it
necessary to hire three additional men and rent
one vehicle. The additional labor was required
(i) to assist MBE employees in moving equipment to
sheltered areas for the winter and (ii) to prepare
equipment for reclamation efforts. The cost for
additional contract- labor in the first quarter was
$9 , 575 . 37 .
-3-
