Mr. Ron W. Largent, Executive Vice President
AngloGold Ashanti North America
7400 East Orchard Suite 350
Greenwood Village, CO. 80111
Dear Mr. Largent,
JANET A. KUNZ
386 East 60 South
Ivins, Utah 84738
435 - 627 -8749
Within the past year, my son Donald S. Tease has been corresponding with Ms. Mannon and Mr. DuBois
regaraing tne ieacning pona tnat LL &V bola mining company wants to begin constructing over tne
Mary McKinney Mine site. As you are well aware, my son Wayne B. Tease's remains lie at the bottom of
said mine.
Personally, Mr. Largent, I have written to you betore regarding my son's remains and I remember when
we met at the site when Wayne died. I was a bit disappointed that you have responded to my letters by
passing them on to Ms, Mannon and Mr. Dubois (who has told my family that he has never even seen
the grave (mine) and I felt disappointment that the person who is now in charge of the CC &V Gold
Mining Company didn't believe it necessary to visit the grave that lies on the property). Ms. Mannon
has stated over and over that jobs are at stake and the gold mining must continue to provide jobs for
the folks living in the area. My goodness, I am not interested in work being stopped at the mine, I am
interested in CC &V digging down and retrieving what remains may be left of my son. Possibly that effort
could create more jobs. The cost would be minimal to a company like CC &V. It is cruel to say that we
would not want the folks that live in the CC & V area to have continued employment. That is absurd.
We want my son's remains. If it is a shoe, his clothing, a tooth or some bones - I do not care, I just
want my son's remains so that I can bring him home. It is so hard for me to understand the reluctance
of the mining company to open the mine and get Wayne.
When the accident occurred CC &V did not own the land. The mine area at the time of the accident was
owned by Texas Gulf Metals. It was a different time and a different world in Cripple Creek in 1986. As
you are well aware, there were no strong tall fences and warning signs in place at the time. I have
photographs to prove that there was no sign at the site until after the accident. Also, the wire fence
that was across the dirt road up to the mine and around the mine was so rusted, that I could crumble it
in my hand. I still have a piece of that wire. Ms. Mannon was not at CC &V in 1986 and has no idea of
what the conditions were at the time. She often does not state the facts. CC &V is now owned by
