91
All pit disturbance in the shop area will occur within the Shavano
and Disturbed Lands map units. There will be no disturbance in the
Persayo map unit.
RBCCblvO,TDED TOPSOIL SALVAGE
5810-Shavano. Salvage depths for the shop area soils will be ident-
cial to those reccm-nended by Fly and Associates for the west pit area
soils (see Tab 9, Table 2; Tab 9, Attachment 1, Section II; and
Stripping Iscpach and Topsoil Stockpile Map, Exhibit 9-2) . Approxi-
mately (20) inches of fair quality "A", "B", and "C" horizon surface
and substratum soil will be salvaged. The major limitations for the
soil are the fine textures (sandy clay loam to clay loam) and para-
lithic contact with interbedded sandstones and shales.
DL - Disturbed Lands Complex. The topsoil suitability rating for this
map unit is poor or unsuitable due to prior mining disturbance limi-
tations. No toposil salvage is recommended from this map unit.
ANTICIPATED TOPSOIL BUDGET
The following balances were calculated to determine the quantity of
topsoil to be salvaged, the shop reclamation area that will require
topsoil replacement and the anticipated revised Nucla Mine topsoil
replacement depth. The total mine disturbance area that will require
topsoil replacement is:
111.8 acres (Tab 9, Attachment 1, Section 3)
+ 29.6 acres (shop reclamation area)
- 6.7 acres (shop area previously accounted for)
- 4.2 acres (shop area soils not to be disturbed)
130.5 acres (Total)
