Road Superintendent Tom Thompson <br /> was also present for the discussion. The Commissioners were in agreement to consider the <br /> cloeurec on a case-by-case basic and will require control of both sides of the road, and <br /> compaction criteria for putting the road back for permanent use, and the provision for <br /> ingress/egress for affected residents. Permanent road closures will be processed through <br /> county road vacation procedure, Mr. Farneworth stated Peabody will qG an eaonomia <br /> analysis before any action is taken. Commissioner Neesham requested a copy of Peabody's <br /> letter in response to road repair costs for AA Road and the mined-out portion of 26.50 <br /> Road. <br /> 10:40 a.m. Bill Robinson, Montrose City Manager, appeared to state the City has <br /> withdrawn its Energy Impact grant application for a trade show booth. This was done in <br /> the spirit of cooperation In consideration of the Montrose County Airport's receipt of <br /> $1,000,000 in improvement funding. The project is now being planned for a county booth, <br /> which will involve the city, county, Chamber of Commerce and the Visitors and Convention <br /> Bureau. An established portable booth will give better exposure for the area. By <br /> attending three to four shows a year, the targeted industries study results can be <br /> accomplished according to Mr. Robinson. The Commissioners think the idea is excellent <br /> and agreed to fund the project if other county entitles, such as the Nucla and Olathe <br /> Chambers of Commerce are contacted for materials, backing and input. Mr. Robinson <br /> agreed. <br /> M/S/P - Neesham/Schmalz - to donate $10,000 out of P.I.L.T. economic development <br /> funds toward the creation of a targeted-industries trade booth for Montrose County. The <br /> motion passed unanimously. <br /> Commissioner McNeil remarked that this is more effective advertising than trade <br /> magazine ads. <br /> 11:00 a.m. Bill Self of the local Soil Conservation Service office appeared to <br /> present a resolution declaring May 24-31, 1987 as Soil Stewardship week. <br /> M/S/P - Schmalz/Neesham - to approve and authorize signature on resolution 19 - 87 <br /> to make May 24-31 Soil Stewardship week in Montrose County.
