Mining the approximately 32.9 acres in the areas numbered 1 through 4 at Nucla Mine in
1987 and 1988 will yield 311,750 tons from the Upper and Lower Dakota coal seams. To
uncover this coal, approximately 2,061,900 cubic yards of overburden and parting material
will be removed by dozers and scrapers. During 1989 through 1990 at the Nucla East area,
approximately 49.5 acres will yield 373,600 tons from the Lower Dakota coal seam.
Approximately 2,697,000 cubic yards of overburden material will be removed to uncover this
coal. Mining statistics for all areas to be mined are shown in Table 12-2.
Coal Processing and Non-Coal Processing Wastes
There are no coal processing facilities at the Nucla Mine or proposed at the Nucla East
area. All of the coal is transported to the power station by a transportation contractor.
Non-coal wastes shall be periodically transported to the county landfill.
12-4 Revised 08/19/88
