State Reg. Federal Reg. <br /> storage tank. Vehicles transporting explosives and blasting <br /> agents shall be equipped with fire protection as recommended <br /> in Code 495, Section 20, N.F.P.A. Handbook, 12th Edition, 1962. <br /> Firefighting equipment shall be continuously maintained in a <br /> usable and operative condition. Fire extinguishers shall be <br /> examined at least once every 6 months and the data of such <br /> examination shall be recorded on a permanent tag attached to <br /> the extinguisher. One portable fire extinguisher shall be pro- <br /> vided at each location where welding, cutting, or soldering <br /> with arc or flame is performed." <br /> The Western Surface Agreement of 1984 of the International Union <br /> of United Mine Workers of America,to which Peabody Coal Company is <br /> a signatory, also requires annual retraining of miners in in- <br /> struction of fire warning signs and fire fighting procedures. <br /> Nucla Mine is in compliance with and conducts all required MSHA <br /> and UMWA courses as stated in the law and contract respectively. <br /> Training attendance records for both firefighting procedures and <br /> signals are kept on file at the mine.
