Areas reclaimed under 4. 15. 10 need not meet seasonal variety
requirements (see Exhibit 13-1a) .
Woody Plant Densities . As per the February 27 meeting, the discussion
on woody plant densities will only be slightly modified. The procedure
of establishing shrub islands and the standards presented in the Nucla
Permit Revision remain unchanged. Much of the reclaimed areas are to be
in dryland pasture and thus, woody plant densities are not critical , but
woody plants were included in the seed mix to aid in enhancing the
overall forage quality, and to benefit wildlife incidentally. In the
species diversity discussion for revegetation success , a commitment has
been made to establish one shrub with a minimum relative cover value of
three (3) percent or greater. This will insure that shrubs occur
throughout the reclaimed areas.
Areas reclaimed under 4. 15. 10 need not meet woody plant density
requirements (see Exhibit 13-1a) .
Summary. The testing for revegetation success as discussed under the
various headings above, reflect the discussion and consensus of
agreement achieved at the February 27 meeting in Denver. Revised text
pages , reflecting the above discussion for Comment 7 are included with
the complete package of revised text.
Literature Cited: USDA Soil Conservation Service. 1976.
