James Blair /Geologist BLM <br />USFS, Dolores Public Lands Office <br />29211 Hwy. 184 691 <br />Dolores, CO 81323 <br />RE: Red Arrow Dome (RAD) Exploration Project <br />Dear Mr. Oswald and Mr. Blair, <br />Timeline <br />Bob Oswald <br />DRMS, Durango Field Office <br />CR 233, Suite A -2 <br />Durango, CO 81301 <br />This letter, the enclosed Notice of Intent to Conduct Prospecting Operations for Hard Rock /Metal Mines <br />Forms 1 and 2, and enclosed attachments comprise Compass Exploration, Inc.'s formal submission for a <br />prospecting permit at the Red Arrow Dome (RAD) Exploration Project. Compass Exploration is providing <br />both DRMS and USFS with notice regarding proposed prospecting operations on the northern flank of <br />the Red Arrow Dome on U.S. Forest Service lands. <br />The proposed activity involves drilling two drill holes approximately 2,000 feet deep. The sites are <br />located in eastern Montezuma County, 8 miles east of the Town of Mancos, specifically within Sections <br />10 &11 of Township 36 North, Range 12 West, NMPM. Primary access to the sites is via Montezuma <br />County Roads 44 and L (which turns into USFS Road 567). Secondary access is planned along existing <br />logging roads which are in good operating condition, and will not require any improvements (see Form 1 <br />Attachment A: Location Maps). The proposed drilling locations are planned to occur within the existing <br />road prism, and may need minor cut /fill preparation adjacent to the road for rig stabilization. The <br />specific details of the proposed activity are included in the required DRMS NOI Forms 1 and 2 that are <br />included in this submittal. <br />There will be three anticipated phases of activity associated with this project over the course of the <br />remainder of the summer and fall 2012 seasons. <br />1. Site Preparation: (May 1, 2012) Drilling site preparation and mobilization. <br />2. Prospecting: (May — November, 2012) Prospecting will occur in the form of rotary and /or core - drilling <br />at two surface locations within existing road /disturbance prisms that traverse the prospecting area. <br />3. Reclamation: (November 2012) Drill holes will be abandoned and the site will be reclaimed as per the <br />details outlined in the attached Forms 1 and 2. <br />Compliance with Other Laws <br />As per the DRMS NOI Form requests, the scope of the project was reviewed to identify other applicable <br />laws with presiding regulatory authority. A summary of that review is as follows: <br />• Colorado State Historical Preservation — Compass will query CSHPO's records to determine if there are <br />any historical /cultural resources in the vicinity of the project area.
