November 29, 2011 C -1996 -083 /Bowie No. 2 Mine JJD <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial I nspection this Fiscal Year: 4 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2 <br /> <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12: <br /> The cut and fill slopes at the main mine were stable. Previous small slides have either been repaired <br />successfully or h ave stabilized. The unit train loadout spur line bench outslopes were stable as well. <br /> <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br /> No problems were noted with any of the mine site building facilities and coal handling structures. <br />Maintenance of the crusher/screener structure on the D -seam portal bench appeared to have been completed. There <br />were no leaks at the fuel facility. According to the operator, construction of the shaft collar at the Terror Creek <br />vent shaft site has begun. Due to time constraints, the inspect ion did not include this area. <br /> <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS – Rule 4.02: <br /> Mine identification signs were up at all of the entrances to the mine site locations, as well as along the <br />public roads where the permit boundary crosses each road. The required mine informat ion was on each sign. <br /> <br />Surface disturbance markers were up around the disturbed areas. However, the surface disturbance markers need <br />to be put back up at the reclaimed Hubbard Creek fan site area. The markers had been removed when earthmoving <br />operations ha d been done. <br /> <br />Subsidence warning signs were up on the west end of the utility bench and along the public road leading to the <br />Hubbard Creek fan site area. Stream buffer zone signs were up at the Hubbard Creek fan site area as well. <br /> <br />TOPSOIL – Rule 4.06 Rem oval 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; <br />Redistribution 4.06.4: <br /> No problems were noted with any of the topsoil stockpiles at the main mine and the coal waste pile areas. <br />Topsoil signs were up on the stockpiles. <br /> <br /> <br />DOCUM ENTS RECEIVED - None <br />OTHER (SPECIFY) <br />
