1.0 INTRODUCTION
Fire protection at the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company (CC &V) operation is
provided by dry chemical extinguishing agents and, in selected locations, sprinklers and
high - pressure hose stations with foam additive such as in the Ironclad shop/Warehouse.
In addition, mine water trucks (13,000 gallon and 18,000 gallon capacity) are available
for fire response. Both trucks are equipped with monitors (e.g. water cannons controlled
from within the truck). The 13,000 - gallon capacity truck also is equipped with a hose
reel for manual fire fighting. (Both trucks are equipped with 2.5" fire hose connections)
Fire Protection Plans ( "FPP ") for each major operating element of CC &V are discussed
in Sections 2 through 10. Operating elements are shown on Figure 1 "General Facility
Layout ". This Plan addresses the fire equipment and protection facilities that are
available on site for each operating element. Assistance from the Cripple Creek Fire
Department to augment on -site equipment would be requested in the event of failure of
on -site systems. The Cripple Creek Fire Department has been briefed on the location of
flammable materials and has agreed to respond if called.
2.0 IRONCLAD FACILITIES
The Ironclad Facilities consist of the Ironclad office /dry, light vehicle maintenance shop,
truck shop, and shop /warehouse. The general meeting area for an evacuation of the
Ironclad facilities is the employee parking lot. These facilities are shown on Figure 1
"General Facility Layout ".
2 Ironclad offices / Employee Dry
Fire hazards in this building consist of normal office type hazards (cleaning supplies,
paper, coffee pot, and electrical devices). Flammable or combustible oils, greases, and
fuels are not stored in this building. Fire protection is provided by hand held, ABC rated,
dry- chemical fire extinguishers provided at strategic locations convenient to the building
occupants and suitable for the hazards in the work areas.
2.2 Light Vehicle Maintenance Shop
Fire hazards in this building consist of normal office type hazards (paper, coffee pot, and
electrical devices) and daily use quantities (55 gallons or less) of oxygen, acetylene,
solvent, paint, oil, and grease normal for a maintenance shop. Storage of daily use
quantities of flammable or combustible materials is in designated areas or an approved
fire cabinet. Fire protection is provided by hand held, ABC rated, dry- chemical fire
extinguishers provided at strategic locations convenient to the building occupants and
available for the hazards in the work area.
Hazardous Waste Accumulation Storage Room
Hazardous wastes are stored in a separate room with its own external entrance located
at the rear of the light vehicle maintenance shop. Fire hazards in this room consist of
temporary storage (awaiting approved disposal) of small quantities (less than 55 gallons)
of flammable or combustible materials. The room is equipped with an overhead fire
Fire Plan
EMS: AGANA/CCV Printed Copies are Uncontrolled
G: \EMS \Plans\Emergency Response Plans \FirePlan.doc
-I -
August 17, 2010
Doc.# E -007
Rev. 05
