A third parry grades the access road through the mine site. Overall the access road is in good repair.
However, overgrading of the cover overlying the culverts needs to be managed.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
Some of the steeper slopes continue to exhibit active rill formation. Vegetation establishment in these steeper
slopes tends to continue to be fairly thin. Bobby Steele also noted that 2011 was a very dry year with regards to
precipitation. The Division finds that limited rill and gully repair is needed in areas exhibiting active gully
formation. Roughening of the surface on the contour, to break up runoff concentrations, and limited seeding of the
repair areas is permitted under Rule 4.15.7(5)(a).
Parcels identified as needing rill and gully repair include (Reference map 2008 ARR Map for parcel names):
Fill 9A -SE facing slope
N -1 North facing slope (Photo 1)
W -1 (seeded 2007) NW of Pond 6
W -6 (seeded 2006) S side of slope (Photos 4, 5 and 6)
W -5 (Photo 7)
N -2 west slope
C -1 west of shrub exclosure
gully east of Fill 8 D83
REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15 Vegetative Cover; Timing:
NECC will transplant more shrub seedling in the fenced exclosure in 2012. Weed barrier fabric may be warranted
during the transplant operation to minimize the competition for available water while the shrubs are becoming
established.
Vegetation on most of the slopes appears adequate and reclamation vegetation is stabilizing the fill slopes. The
reclaimed vegetation throughout the reclaimed areas is very dry. Some greening up of the cool season grass
species at the root crowns were noted as a result of recent snows.
SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02:
The mine identification sign is posted on the Lorencito Canyon road as vehicles cross the Purgatorie River. All
required information is contained on the sign.
Disturbance area markers need to include sediment control ponds. The disturbance area markers were not
observed north of Pond 9, or Pond 8. Disturbance area markers need to be re- established on the northern
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 4 of 10
