Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company Squaw Gulch Valley Leach Facility Design
changes may require OMLR review and approval as more detailed information is
provided pursuant to approval of this facility.
6.4 Sediment Control
Sediment control during VLF construction activities will be the responsibility of the
general contractor hired by CC &V. The contractor shall incorporate Best Management
Practices (BMPs) and construct all necessary temporary erosion prevention and
control facilities in order to comply with applicable regulations. Typical erosion control
features are presented on Drawing A260.
As part of the Phase 1 and 2 surface water diversion design, temporary sediment
collection ponds have been incorporated, as shown on Drawings A500 and A510 for
Phase 1 and 2, respectively. The sediment collection ponds have been sized to
contain twice the 25- year /24 -hour storm event with freeboard. CC &V (or CC &V's
general contractor) will be required to pump the sediment collection pond level down
after major storm events to prevent overtopping. As the ponds are designed as
excavations into native ground (with no liner), some infiltration of stormwater into the
foundation is expected.
Project No.: 74201125G0 Page 35
1 September 2011
amec°
