RULE 2 - PERMITS
• Mine Access Roads
• Covered Storage Buildings
• Material and Equipment Storage Yards
• Fuel and Oil Storage Areas
• Topsoil Material Stockpiles
• Mine Ventilation Systems
• Mine Portal Heaters
• Compressor Building
• Rock Dust Tanks
• Transfer Building
• Coal Stockpiles w/ Roads
• Coal Haulroads
• Substation and Electrical Distribution Lines and Equipment
• Water Well, Storage Tank, and Distribution System
• Wastewater Storage System
• Drainage and Sediment Control System and Associated Ponds
The mine facilities for the south portal area are discussed in the following sections: Roads are
discussed in the "Roads" section, which follows the surface facility descriptions. Drainage and
sediment control systems are discussed in the "Ponds, Impoundments, and Diversions" section
following the "Roads" section. Discussions of other activities and facilities are presented in the
"Soil Material Handling ", "Overburden Handling and Blasting Operations ", "Coal Handling
Structures ", and "Coal Refuse and Non -Coal Processing Wastes" sections, which follow the
"Ponds, Impoundments, and Diversions" section. The south end surface facilities are summarized
in Table 2.05.3 -T3.
Standard maintenance procedures, such as preventive maintenance programs, painting, and
lubrication shall be utilized throughout the active life of all structures and facilities. All facilities
will be removed, and the associated disturbance areas reclaimed to approximate original contours,
and the approved postmining uses when no longer required to support ongoing or future mining and
related activities.
Covered Storage Buildings — Four covered storage buildings will be constructed for dry storage of
materials. The buildings will be 100 x 30 x 20, two at 150 x 50 x 20 feet and one at 250 x 50 x 20
feet. The structures will be steel -frame construction, with steel siding, and a dirt floor covered with
1 -foot of road -base material. The steel buildings will sit on two foot diameter concrete pylons, five
feet deep on 25 foot centers. The locations of these structures are shown on Map 2.05.3 -MIA,
Mine Facilities Map (South End).
Material and Equipment Storage Yards — Materials such as roofbolts, conveyor structure, timber,
and other consumable supplies needed for the underground operations will be stored in these areas.
The storage yard will cover a maximum area of approximately 4 acres, and will be surfaced with
road -base or gravel.
TR -01 -10 2.05 -12 Revision 02/11
