Dear Mr. Cunningham:
Following are Calais Resources Colorado, Inc., responses to your adequacy letter of January 13,
2012 for permit amendment application, file No. M 1977 -410.
The Division's adequacy question is in italics with Calais Resources Colorado, Inc., response in
non - italics font.
6.3.4 Exhibit D — Reclamation Plan:
1. The Applicant has provided the Division with a cost estimate for the closures of the Cross
Mine Decline Portal and the Cross Mine Portal. Please provide the Division with the
dimensions of the openings of the above referenced portals, so that we may calculate the costs
for this type of closure.
• Proposed Cross Mine Decline Portal: 15ft. X 15ft.
• Existing Cross Mine Portal: l Oft. wide X 6ft. high.
2. The Applicant has provided the Division with a cost estimate for closure of the ventilation
shaft and the secondary escape -way. Please provide the Division with the dimensions of the
openings of the above referenced shafts, so that we may calculate the costs for this type of
closure.
• Existing Cross Shaft 8ft. X 1Oft.
• Existing Crown Point Shaft 7ft. X 7ft.
3. The Applicant has requested Ponds #1 and #2 remain on site following reclamation. The
Applicant has also asserted mine drainage will not occur following reclamation and has
committed to providing plug design specifications and an associated financial warranty in a
subsequent revision to the Reclamation Permit. Therefore, the Division must bond for the
