On -going reductions in ground water saturation and variable water quality conditions due
to the AGVLF are expected at CRMW -3A and CRMW -3B.
The water level and water quality conditions in the granites adjacent to the Diatreme will
continue to be monitored by ESPMW -1, CRMW -3A, and CRMW -3B.
5.5 Cripple Creek
5.5.1 Current Conditions
The Cripple Creek drainage and MLE permit boundary are shown on Figure 2 -1. Cripple
Creek is a south to southwest oriented drainage. Cripple Creek flows southwest and
south where it has a confluence with Fourmile Creek approximately six miles southwest
from the City of Victor. The Cripple Creek drainage has two significant contributing
creeks from the Cresson Mine Project area: Squaw Gulch Creek and Arequa Gulch
Creek. These drainages are shown on Figure 2 -1.
There is no MLE disturbance in the main Cripple Creek drainage. MLE disturbances in
the Poverty Gulch, Squaw Gulch, and Arequa Gulch drainages are discussed in their
respective sections. The limits of these mine components are shown on Figure 2 -1. The
existing EMPs that collect and dissipate storm water runoff are shown on Figure 2 -1.
The main Cripple Creek drainage lies outside the Diatreme as is shown on Figure 2 -2
5.5.2 Mine Life Extension 2
MLE2 does not propose to construct any new or expand any existing facilities in the main
Cripple Creek drainage. The EMPs will continue in MLE2. The disturbance limits and
the proposed facilities for MLE2 across the Cresson Project are shown on Figure 2 -2.
MLE2 will not impact any of the existing monitor stations in the main Cripple Creek
drainage.
5.5.3 Surface Water
5.5.3.1 Monitoring Program
Surface water conditions in the Cripple Creek drainage are assessed at four locations.
These stations are CC -01, CC -02, CC -03, and CC -04. Surface water station locations are
shown on Figure 2 -2. All surface stations are located over the granites adjacent to the
Diatreme.
'Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Hydrologic Evaluation for Mine Life Extension 2
28
