MLE2 involves additional mining of ore and overburden that, based on current production rates
and other factors, is anticipated to encompass at least nine years or until approximately 2025;
processing of solution would continue to approximately 2032, and final reclamation and closure
would be completed in roughly 2041.
3.0 CC &V MONITORING PROGRAM
CC &V has an active monitoring program at the site that includes both surface water monitoring
stations and ground water monitor wells, piezometers, and boreholes. Approximately six surface
water monitoring locations and fourteen ground water monitoring locations are considered
compliance sites and monitoring data are collected according to an approved frequency and list
of parameters. The remainder of the monitoring sites discussed in this document are monitored
in accordance with CC &V's internal policies. The parameters being monitored are shown on
Table 3 -1 for surface water sites and Table 3 -2 for ground water sites.
The following sections provide summaries of monitoring data that have been collected through
2011. Samples were collected on a quarterly basis at most locations, although more frequent
sampling has occurred at some locations as part of ongoing hydrological and geochemical
baseline studies in the Grassy Valley drainage. Surface water and ground water samples and
field data were collected by CC &V professional staff Quality assurance and quality control
procedures were included in the sampling and analytical procedures as part of the certified
Environmental Management System at CC &V. All analytical testing was performed by
qualified third -party analytical laboratories that participate in external quality assurance and
quality control programs.
The individual locations for current surface water and ground water monitoring discussed in this
report are shown on Figure 2 -2.
4.0 WILSON CREEK AND TRIBUTARIES
Wilson Creek, Bateman Creek, Theresa Gulch
4.1.1 Current Conditions
The Wilson Creek drainage and MLE permit boundary are shown on Figure 2 -1. Wilson
Creek is a south, west, and southwest oriented drainage. Wilson Creek has two branches:
Bateman Creek which lies west of the City of Victor and flows south and the North Fork
of Wilson Creek (also known as Theresa Gulch) which begins north of the
unincorporated Town of Goldfield and flows south to south west. After the confluence of
these two branches approximately 1 7 miles southwest of the City of Victor, Wilson
'Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Hydrologic Evaluation for Mine Life Extension 2
3
