The second level of the High Grade Mill platform will be at approximately 9,980 feet
amsl. The toe of the crushed ore stockpiles will be at this level and material will be
removed from the stockpile at this level to enter the grinding circuit. The lowest level of
the High Grade Mill platform will include the buildings, structures, and storage areas.
The liner along the outside edges of this level will tie into the SGVLF liner system when
Phase 2 of the SGVLF is constructed.
6.3.2 Mill Layout and Buildings
The largest structure on the High Grade Mill platform will be the mill building. The
building layout is shown on the mill design drawings in Appendix 10, Volume VI. The
mill building will house all of the High Grade Mill facilities except for the cyanidation
leach circuit and thickener tanks. In addition, the mill building will include offices, a
warehouse /shop area, a laboratory, and an electrical substation area. In addition to the
mill building, thickeners, and cyanidation leach tanks, the mill facilities will include a
lime silo, a concrete silo, outside storage areas, and parking. A new power line will be
constructed to provide power to the mill (see Drawing C -3 in Exhibit C). An emergency
generator will provide backup power to keep the mill running in the event of power
failure to the line power supply system.
The mill building and cyanidation leach tanks will be placed within concrete foundations.
The foundations will include berming or curbing as part of the design and construction in
order to allow secondary containment of potential leaks and spills in those areas. The
leach tank secondary containment will hold 75% of the volume of one tank. The
concentrate thickener, which contains the most gold, will drain into the mill building in
the event of an upset. The other thickeners will be located within a curbed concrete
foundation that acts as secondary containment. The thickener secondary containment is
designed for clean-up control only and in the extremely unlikely event the thickeners fail,
they will overflow within the mill platform lined area.
Preliminary mill designs are included as part of Appendix 10, Volume VI. These designs
are based on the best information currently available and provide a detailed description of
the High Grade Mill facilities for MLE2. It is possible that additional information may
be generated that would need to be submitted to the OMLR prior to construction of
certain project components. In those instances where the submittal of further information
is warranted, CC &V will provide Issued for Construction ( "IFC ") drawings and
appropriate supporting documentation (e.g., calculations, narrative explanations) to the
OMLR containing design details and changes that are based on site specific conditions
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension 2
6 -10
