Construction of the SGOSA
The SGOSA will continue to be constructed in much the same manner as previously
approved under MLE although the final configuration has been modified as part of
MLE2.
The SGOSA overburden is placed in lifts that are, initially, up to about 300( ±) feet high,
with benches of appropriate width for erosion control and access during development.
This configuration facilitates final grading to achieve slopes that accommodate
reclamation. The approximate final reclamation slopes are shown on Drawing F -1.
These are shown as overall average slopes of 2.5 horizontal:1 vertical (2.51-1:1V).
As currently approved, actual slopes may vary from 2.5H:1 V. CC &V's grading
operations typically produce a combination of slopes that compliment the existing
topography of the area, and which achieve an overall slope of 2.5H:1 V. Steeper slopes
between 2.0H:1 V and the angle -of- repose (generally 1.3H:1 V) will be employed in areas
where necessary and appropriate to blend in with the adjacent, non - disturbed terrain or
serve to better emulate native terrain, and when they meet the following criteria:
• Geotechnically stable
• Erosionally stable (sediment is not transported past the footprint of the area in
quantities greater than surrounding terrain - based on routine observations and
sediment control management practices under the standard operating practices of
CC &V)
• Can be reclaimed, or covered with talus -like rock
• Safe for approved post- mining land uses
Construction of the Mill Platform within the SGOSA
A new High Grade Mill platform will be constructed adjacent to the SGVLF to process
the higher grade ore. To provide the space for construction of the High Grade Mill
facilities, an area within the SGOSA will be prepared as the mill platform. The mill
platform, shown on Figure C -4 will be located on a portion of the SGOSA. The platform
will be approximately 15 acres in size with dimensions of 1,000 ft by 600 ft. Material to
achieve the OSA elevations for the High Grade Mill facilities is currently being placed
under the approved SGOSA design. The mill platform, shown on Figure C -4, will be
located within the currently approved footprint of the SGOSA. Additional details for the
High Grade Mill facilities are contained in Section 6.0.
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension 2
5 -18
