the reasonable sources, probable fate, and transport mechanisms of metal and acid - producing
minerals that may be mobilized during development and reclamation of the Cresson Project.
Using all the hydrologic and geochemical information developed for the District, an evaluation
was conducted of the fate and transport of water infiltrating to the subsurface through all mines,
mine backfill, and OSAs created by MLE2. The results of the analysis were verified by checking
against the observed behavior of the hydraulics and chemistry of the diatreme since Cresson
Project surface mining began in 1993, using the measured vertical hydraulic gradients in and
near the diatreme, and the flow rate and chemistry of the regional ground water exiting the
Carlton Tunnel portal. The results of the analysis indicate that no deleterious change in the
average regional ground water quality from the District will occur due to current or proposed
operations of the Cresson Project.
14.15 Construction Schedule Information
New facilities proposed as part of MLE2 that will contain or use designated chemicals include
the SGVLF, SGADR, and the High Grade Mill facilities. The existing AGVLF and AGADR
facilities will continue to contain or use designated chemicals with no new construction planned
for these facilities. The anticipated construction schedule for the SGVLF, SGADR, and High
Grade Mill facilities is shown on Table 5 -1 and discussed in Sections 7.2.2, 8.0, and 6.3,
respectively, of this Project Description. Construction of the SGVLF is anticipated be begin in
2012 and will take approximately four to five construction seasons to complete both Phase 1 and
Phase 2. The High Grade Mill facilities are anticipated to be constructed during the period 2012
through 2014. The actual construction schedule will depend on various factors, with weather
conditions during the construction season being an important consideration.
14.16 Quality Assurance and Quality Control
Construction QA/QC are an integral part of the construction plans. New construction will be
conducted with QA/QC comparable to that has been implemented for the entire Cresson Project.
The QA/QC for the construction of the SGVLF is discussed in Section 7.3 of the Project
Description. In addition, Appendix 9, Volume V of this document contains Technical
Specifications that include QA/QC requirements.
14.17 Plant Growth Medium
A soil survey report is discussed in Section 4.8 of this Project Description and included as
Appendix 3, Volume III of this document. Appendix 3 includes a soils map. The reclamation
discussion in Section 12.0 of the Project Description contains information on growth medium
Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
Cresson Project Mine Life Extension 2
14 -15
