I assume you know
Wildcat is currently doing large amounts of dirt work north of the Idaho Mine, if you don't know,
they are. It appears they are digging a tailings pond, or maybe its a drill pad for water
monitoring, but a swath of land is being dug out 100'longx50'wide at least, this is NOT snow
removal. I don't know if they have permission for this or not, but they are in clear violation of
EPA sediment discharge regulations. There are no erosion control barriers in place between the
disturbed site and the river, this is a direct violation that must be remedied ASAP, accompanied
by a fine. This is continued unacceptable behavior from Wildcat, silt fences are easy to install
and there are none.
Additionally, Wildcat has been working after 5pm, last week I saw lights over by the mayday
portal on at 9pm! They have also been occasionally active on the weekends.
Nothing has changed and it is frustrating to see them setting up for more illegal discharge into
the La Plata River.
I would like an update on the situation when possible.
Thanks for your time Wally,
Jason Aweida
