35C, 35D, 35E-Aaberg Clay. These map units are located on the strongly sloping to steeply sloping <br />toeslopes, sideslopes, and rounded ridgetops. The soil profile is moderately deep with a thin light <br />colored surface horizon which overlies a clay subsoil and substratum. Adjacent Binco and Aaberg <br />variant soils have deep and shallow profiles, respectively. Buckskin soils have dark colored surface <br />horizons and subsoil clay accumulation. Winevada and Splitro have mollic epipedons. <br />The subsoil and substratum of the Aaberg profile is an unsuitable topsoil source due to an excessive <br />clay content, very high saturation percentage, and unfavorable consistence (Appendix 9-61~ The <br />moderately high clay content of the A horizon is alleviated by a high organic matter content (darker <br />color), higher root numbers and favorable consistence. <br />The 35C, 35D, and 35E map units consist of 85 percent Aaberg with 5 percent Binco, 5 percent <br />Aaberg variant, 2 percent Buckskin, 2 percent Winevada, and 1 percent Splitro inclusions (Appendix 9- <br />2, Table 11. A 0.5-foot mean salvage depth was used for these map Units to calculate recoverable <br />topsoil volumes listed in Table 21-1 and Exhibit 9-i. <br />46C, 46D, V46D and Splitro Loam. Splitro loam soils occur on strongly sloping to moderately steep <br />upper sideslopes and ridges. The soil profile has a dark colored surface horizon which directly overlies <br />sandstone bedrock at 10 to 20 inches. Included with this map unit are moderately deep Winevada <br />soils, Aaberg with a light colored surface, and rock outcrop areas. <br />The recommended topsoil salvage depth is based exclusively on the depth to sandstone bedrock. The <br />mean in situ suitable topsoil depth for 26 Splitro profiles is 16 inches (Appendix 9-61. <br />The 46C and 46D map units consist of 85 percent Splitro with 6 percent Winevada, 6 percent rock <br />outcrop, and 3 percent Aaberg inclusions (Appendix 9-2, Table 11. A 1.0-foot mean salvage depth was <br />used for these map units to calculate recoverable topsoil volumes listed in Table 21-1 and Exhibit 9-1. <br />This topsoil salvage depth figure accounts for inclusions and topsoil loss during salvage due to brush <br />clearing. <br />The V46D map unit consists of 85 percent Splitro with 3 percent (each) of Lymanson, Roxal <br />Var., Skyway, Starway, and Wineveda inclusions (Appendix 9-2, Table 11• A five 15) inch <br />mean salvage depth is recommended. This is based on the presence of unsuitable rock <br />fragments and shallow sandstone bedrock. <br />50C, 50D-Cochetopa Loam. Cochetopa loam soils occur on strongly sloping to moderately steep <br />upland benches and colluvial sideslopes. The soil profile is deep and well <br />PR03 17 Revised 7/02 <br />
