EGETATION
2011 Scope of Work
ANAGEMENT
N
Vegetation Management, Inc.
"May all your Weeds be Wildflowers
and all your Trees be Healthy"
P.O. Box 162
Evergreen, CO. 80437 -0162
www.vmiweedsandtrees.com
303.674.1215 (0)
1.877.467.1215 (F)
calexdlind @comcast.net
Recommendations /Scope of Work
City of Golden - Guanella Reservoir
Vegetation Management Inc. (hereafter referred to as VMI) has been
asked to prepare this recommendation for weed management efforts in
three areas of the City of Golden — Guanella Reservoir (hereafter referred
to as COG -GR) commencing during Fall 2010 and beyond.
VMI currently provides weed control services for a variety of agencies and
municipalities. There are many benefits derived from developing an
ongoing weed management program 1) reduce infestations and seed
populations; 2) decrease competition to benefit native plants and forbs;
and 3) lower the possibility for noxious species to spread.
The COG -GR will be broken up into a total of three (3) areas and will be
referred to by VMI as follows:
• SW side (estimated to be approximately 18 +/- Acres) — Noxious
weeds found in this area were: Yellow Toadflax, Canada and
Musk Thistles; Scentless Chamomile and Diffuse Knapweed. This
area is long and fairly wide going from the road along the S side of
the reservoir to approximately the power line and from the dam at
the E to approximately the forested area at the W. It will also
include an annual inspection to the W where the inlet equipment is
located. The majority of this area is heavily forested with some
open areas which could almost be considered meadows however
many of these open areas contain native forbs and shrubs as well
as lots of downed timber making this area difficult to treat requiring
leaving equipment parked along the roadside and dragging hose
to spot treat for weeds. It should be understood that in order to
treat infestations in this area some collateral damage may occur to
native plant material.
• Roadside, Reservoir banks, and area N of reservoir to W Fork
of Clear Creek (estimated to be approximately 24 — 27 Acres) — A
thorough inspection of this area has yet to be completed as of Fall
Page 1 City of Golden — Guanella Reservoir
